James John Rantz is an American former professional baseball player born on February 24, 1938, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He served as the Minnesota Twins' farm system director from 1986 to 2012, marking a significant tenure as one of the longest-serving farm system directors in Major League Baseball. Over his extensive career spanning 53 seasons with the Twins' organization, Rantz played a pivotal role in developing home-grown talent that led to the team's success in the 1987 and 1991 World Series and numerous playoff appearances in the early 21st century.
