Jimmy Lovelace was an American jazz drummer born on February 6, 1940, in Kansas City and passed away on October 29, 2004, in Manhattan, New York City. Active in the New York jazz scene from the early 1960s, he collaborated with prominent artists such as Prince Lasha, Wes Montgomery, and George Benson. He participated in numerous recording sessions over his career, with significant contributions from 1965 to 2002. Regularly performing at the Smalls Jazz Club, he was part of the band Across 7 Street and released an album just before his death at age 64.
