James Edwin Walker was an American football and basketball coach who played at the University of Alabama. He began his coaching career at El Dorado High School before becoming head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Virginia Military Institute, where he recorded a 27–39 overall record. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy and died at age 30 in Brazil due to injuries sustained during service.
