During the communist regime, he was a dissident and became one of the key figures in the Velvet Revolution in the Karlovy Vary region. Following this, he entered politics as a non-partisan MP, specifically representing the Civic Forum in the Federal Assembly's People's Council. He passed away on March 20, 2009, in Plzeň.
