Jindřich Martiš (March 20, 1952 – November 5, 1997) was a Czechoslovak and Czech mountaineer, filmmaker, and traveler. He began high-altitude climbing in the High Tatras and later climbed in the Alps and the Caucasus. Martiš participated in expeditions to the Himalayas, including Lhotse Shar and Dhaulagiri. In 1986, he summited several mountains in the Andes and attempted to climb Mount Everest in 1987 but turned back 300 meters below the summit. He reached Annapurna with Josef Nežerka in 1988 and trekked over a thousand kilometers through the New Guinea rainforest in 1997.
