Jindřich Veselý was a Czechoslovak communist politician, historian, and diplomat, born on July 12, 1906, in Žďár nad Sázavou. He served as the Deputy Minister of the Interior from 1945 to 1950 and was the chief of State Security from 1948 to 1950, marking his role as a key figure in the repressive mechanisms of the Czechoslovak communist regime. He briefly acted as ambassador to Bulgaria in 1962. His career was shadowed by a failed suicide attempt and ultimately succeeded in 1964, fourteen years later.
