Jiří Hůla was a Czech visual artist, graphic designer, publicist, archivist, art theory expert, and visual poetry author. He studied mathematics and physical education at Palacký University Olomouc from 1961 to 1966. In 1983, he established Gallery H with his brother Zdeněk in Kostelec nad Černými lesy, and in 1984 founded the GH Study Archive, now one of the largest specialized collections of materials on contemporary Czech and Slovak visual arts. He also developed the abART information system for archiving purposes, serving as a comprehensive online database since 2003.
