Jiří Kostúr (September 8, 1942 – October 24, 2023) was a Czech writer born in Prague to a Czech mother and a Slovak father. He held various jobs such as a stoker, lumberjack, and driver while pursuing writing. In the 1970s, he became involved with the underground community and worked as a literary editor for the samizdat magazine Vokno alongside František 'Čuňas' Stárek. He signed Charter 77 in April 1981 and published an autobiographical book, Satori in Prague, in 1993. Kostúr also wrote poetry and travel literature. He died in a car accident in France at the age of 81.
