Jiří Liška is a Czech veterinarian and politician born on May 12, 1949, in Havlíčkův Brod. After the Velvet Revolution, he served as a member of the People's Assembly of Czechoslovakia and was a senator in the Czech Republic from 1996 to 2010. During his time in the Senate, he held positions such as deputy chairman and chairman of the ODS club. Liška was also the mayor of Jičín from 1994 to 2002 and again from 2012 to 2014. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Council of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes.
