Jirō Kōsaka, born on March 2, 1927, is a Japanese novelist and historian. He served as a kamikaze during World War II. After the war, he found work related to theater, where he met historical writer Hasegawa Shin and began writing period novels. He won the Grand Prize of Japanese Literature in 1982 for 'Kuroshio no Kishibe' and the First Popular Literature Research Award in 1987. He also published a book explaining and critiquing a historical source written by samurai Asahi Shigeaki in 1984.
