Klimešová completed her Master's in botany at Charles University's Faculty of Science in 1987 and later pursued doctoral research on clonal plants. Since 1993, she has worked at the Czech Academy of Sciences' Botanical Institute, where she leads the experimental and functional morphology department. She also promotes science through publications and a blog, and published a book in 2018 on temperate herbs.
