Jo Ann M. Johnson is an American politician born on April 24, 1949, in Massena, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1971, she worked as a farmer, teacher, and coach. Johnson served on the Adair-Casey school board and the Adair County Republican Central Committee. Elected to the Iowa Senate in 1994 representing District 39, she later remarried and changed her name. Johnson resigned from her position on January 22, 2002, which led to a special election for her seat.
