Her district includes areas such as Wai‘anae, Mākaha, Makua, and parts of Māʻili on Oahu. Appointed by Governor Neil Abercrombie on January 19, 2011, she succeeded Maile Shimabukuro, who stepped into Colleen Hanabusa's vacated Senate seat. Jo Jordan lost her position when she was defeated by Cedric Asuega Gates in the District 44 Democratic primary.
