Joan Germán Cassola Coenders is a Catalan mountaineer, climber, and mountain guide known for his pioneering ascents in the Alps and other mountain ranges. Beginning his climbing career in 1963, he achieved significant milestones including the first absolute ascent of the Zaratustra route in 1979 and the first state winter ascent of the Eiger's north face in 1987. He has also participated in expeditions to the Andes and Everest. Apart from climbing, he organized the first Catalonia climbing championship in 1989 and directed the Escola Taller de Muntanya.
