Joan Olive Joshua was an influential English veterinary surgeon, dog breeder, and feminist. She operated a one-person veterinary practice in Finchley from 1939 to 1962, becoming the first female fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Joshua was also the first woman on the RCVS council and a councillor for the National Veterinary Medical Association. Additionally, she campaigned for the establishment of the Animal Health Trust and was a reader at the University of Liverpool, receiving significant awards in her field.
