João Carlos Nunes Abreu is a Portuguese poet, writer, playwright, journalist, and politician born on December 5, 1935, in Funchal, Madeira. He served as Regional Secretary in the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madeira from 1984 to 2007 under President Alberto João Jardim. Currently, he directs Criamar, an association focused on social solidarity for the development and support of children and youth.
