Derosso entered politics in 1988 as a city councilor and was re-elected five times until 2008. He played a significant role in discussions within the Curitiba city hall, including a transparency project. However, he faced controversy for hiring his wife's advertising company and was eventually expelled from office in 2012 for party disloyalty.
