João Negrão was a Brazilian military officer and aviator, born in São Paulo on April 2, 1901. He notably served as a co-pilot during the pioneering transatlantic flight aboard the hydroplane Jahu from 1926 to 1927, under the command of João Ribeiro de Barros. Despite having no prior experience on hydroplanes, Negrão accepted the challenge and successfully completed the crossing to Brazilian territory. He is commemorated with streets named after him and a police unit and school in São Paulo. He passed away on May 31, 1978.
