Joe Farrell was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist, born on December 16, 1937, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He began playing the clarinet at the age of eleven. Farrell was a member of Chick Corea's band Return to Forever from 1972 to 1973 and contributed to Corea's solo albums. He collaborated with notable musicians like Elvin Jones, Billy Cobham, Patti Austin, Lalo Schifrin, Lou Donaldson, George Benson, and Maynard Ferguson. Farrell released his first album as a leader, 'Joe Farrell Quartet', in 1970 featuring prominent artists such as Chick Corea and John McLaughlin.
