Joseph Townsend, born on March 27, 1988, is a British paratriathlete competing in the PTWC classification. He has achieved notable success, winning European and world medals, and becoming the Commonwealth Champion in 2018. Townsend represented Great Britain at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, finishing in sixth place. A four-time consecutive winner of the GBR Paratriathlon National Championships from 2016 to 2019, he lost both legs while serving in Afghanistan after an IED explosion in 2008. Townsend is from Eastbourne, England.
