Joel Netshitenzhe is a prominent South African politician and strategist, recognized for his contributions to the ANC in policy and communications. He played key roles as head of communications for Nelson Mandela in 1994 and managed the Government Communication and Information System from 1998 to 2006. Netshitenzhe also led the policy unit in the Presidency under Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, having been a close ally of Mbeki. He was an anti-apartheid activist and part of the ANC's National Executive Committee from 1991 to 2022.
