Joen David Magnussen was a Faroese pharmacist born on January 27, 1912, in Saksun and died on February 10, 1975. He completed his secondary education at Sorø Akademi in 1932 and obtained his pharmacy degree (cand.pharm.) in 1939. Magnussen worked at various pharmacies and at Medicinalcos experimental laboratory from 1947 to 1949. He served as the national pharmacist in the Faroe Islands from 1949 to 1971 and also taught at the nursing school of Dronning Alexandrines Hospital in Tórshavn. He led the Collegium Academicum Færoense from 1955 to 1966.
