He is recognized for his contributions to Austropop, having written legendary lyrics for Wolfgang Ambros and for several other prominent artists, like Stefanie Werger and Rainhard Fendrich. He co-created the musical drama 'Der Watzmann ruft' in 1974. As a co-founder of the NDW group DÖF, they gained international success with the song 'Codo'. Prokopetz also established his own company, known for the slogan 'Lustig samma - Puntigamer'.
