Joseph William Coyle was an unemployed longshoreman from Philadelphia who, in February 1981, discovered $1.2 million in cash on the street after it had fallen from an armored car. Instead of reporting it, he decided to keep the money. Coyle's extraordinary story inspired the 1993 film 'Money for Nothing', featuring John Cusack, as well as Mark Bowden's 2002 book 'Finders Keepers: The Story of a Man Who Found $1 Million'. His actions raised several ethical and legal questions surrounding the ownership of found money.
