Johan 'Hans' Vonkeman was a Dutch missionary in South Africa, born on February 18, 1931, in Amersfoort. He was ordained in 1957 and began his mission work in South Africa the following year. Vonkeman established the Reformed Mission Enkumane in 1960 and conducted his first service on Christmas Day 1959. He retired in 1990 but continued to serve as a crisis counselor and guest preacher. In the 1990s, he wrote for the Dutch Reformed Church Newspaper and published a book of his columns in 1995 titled 'Door Zoeloe's geboeid'.
