Anton Johannes Hejl is a Danish-American musician born on October 1, 1972. He was born at the New Experimental College in Thy to American parents. His father, John W. Hejl, was a draft dodger who left the USA after participating in a public burning of his draft papers in San Francisco during the Vietnam War. His mother, Susan Herman, studied art in Detroit before moving to Bornholm to learn about ceramics. She later met Aage Rosendal Nielsen in Copenhagen and worked as his secretary during the start of the International Højskole.
