John A. D. Cooper was a prominent American physician, educator, and biochemist known for his influential roles in medical education. Born in 1918, he earned a B.S. in chemistry, a Ph.D. in biochemistry, and an M.D. from Northwestern University. His international efforts in the medical field included training Latin doctors in radioisotopes and co-founding the Pan American Federation of Associations of Medical Schools. As the first president of the AAMC, he significantly advanced medical education and policy in the U.S. He passed away in 2002.
