John Lawrence Adams is a retired Major-General of the Canadian Forces and former Chief of the Communications Security Establishment Canada. He served as the Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence from July 2005 to January 2012. Adams is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada and a Rhodes Scholar, later earning a degree from Oxford University. His military career spanned from 1967 to 1993, leading to numerous commendations, including Commander of the Order of Military Merit. He also held various prominent leadership roles in national defense and marine services.
