John Bennett was a British scuba diver renowned for setting a world record for deep diving. Born on March 7, 1959, he became the first individual to dive below 300 m using self-contained breathing apparatus on November 6, 2001. Bennett initially broke the record in 1999 at 200 m and improved it to 254 m in 2000. He founded Atlantis Dive in the Philippines and contributed to establishing Tech Dive Academy in Australia. His diving explorations included the wreck of the MV Princess of the Orient and the Imperial Japanese Navy dreadnought Yamashiro.
