Richard John Beswick, born on December 7, 1937, in Derby, Tasmania, is a notable former Australian politician who served as Deputy Premier of Tasmania. Elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly in 1979, representing Bass for the Liberal Party, he held ministerial positions from 1982 to 1989 and was Deputy Premier from 1992 to 1996. Beswick retired from politics in 1998. His contributions were recognized in 2015 when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia and he also received the Centenary Medal in 2001 for dedicated community service.
