Called to the bar in 1956, he had a distinguished legal career, including roles as a Recorder and King's Counsel. He was involved in various high-profile cases and legal reforms in both Hong Kong and England. After his tenure as Attorney General, he continued in private legal practice until his retirement in 2012.
