Vice Admiral John Colin De Silva was a distinguished flag officer in the Indian Navy, serving as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff from 2001 to 2002. He was also the 11th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, overseeing its operations from 1999 to 2001. Notably, he was the commissioning commanding officer of the INS Ranvijay, a Rajput-class guided-missile destroyer. Following his retirement, he held the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Overseas Employment Agency established by the Government of Goa.
