John Cooper is a former British Army officer born on February 17, 1955, in Berwick-upon-Tweed, United Kingdom. From March 2008, he served as the Deputy Commander of the Multinational Forces in Iraq and was the senior British military representative there. In his role as Deputy Commander, he was the main assistant to the US Army's General Raymond Thomas Odierno. Cooper retired from the army after stepping down on March 4, 2009.
