John D'Earth is an American jazz trumpeter and composer born on March 30, 1950, in Holliston, Massachusetts. He began his career playing with Boots Mussulli and studied English literature at Harvard. D'Earth later moved to New York City to study with renowned musicians. He co-founded the group Cosmology and worked with notable artists including Buddy Rich and Miles Davis. D'Earth released his debut album in 1989 and is currently the head of the Jazz Performance program at the University of Virginia, also composing for various ensembles and cinematic works.
