John Edmond, born on November 18, 1936, is one of the most recognized Zimbabwean musicians and folk singers. He gained fame in the 1970s for his patriotic Rhodesian songs and was a very popular musician during the Rhodesian Bush War. His most famous songs include The Battle of Bembezi, The Last Word in Rhodesian, The UDI Song, and The Regiment Lives On. He also created Afrikaans songs about the Boer Wars. Edmond's parents were from Scotland, and he has lived in Scotland, Northern and Southern Rhodesia, and South Africa during his childhood. He currently resides in Limpopo Province, South Africa.
