Samuel John Eggleston (1926-2001) was an influential English educationist and publisher. He served as a professor and head of the Department of Education at Keele University from 1967 to 1984, and later at the University of Warwick from 1985 to 1996, where he also chaired the department until 1991. In 1983, he co-founded Trentham Books with Gillian Klein and became the founding editor-in-chief of the journal 'Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning,' focusing on educational partnerships and mentoring.
