John Albert Exton (28 March 1933 – 13 September 2009) was a British composer of classical music. Born in Wolverton, he began playing the violin at age 11. He led the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 1950 and won the Mendelssohn Scholarship in 1956, studying in Florence. He earned his Doctor of Music in 1963 and became the director of music at Bedales School. Later, Exton was appointed a senior lecturer at the University of Western Australia, where he taught until retirement. He passed away in Perth at the age of 76.
