John Francis Kelly, born on May 11, 1950, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps general and American government official. He served as White House Chief of Staff under President Donald Trump and was previously the Secretary of Homeland Security in the Trump administration. Prior to his political career, Kelly commanded the Southern Command, overseeing U.S. military operations in Central and South America and the Caribbean. He also led Multinational Force in Iraq from 2008 to 2009. He is known for his conservative views on immigration and lost his son, Robert, during the Afghanistan War.
