John Anthony Feehan is an Irish geologist, botanist, author, and broadcaster born on May 12, 1946, in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. A Trinity College Dublin alumnus, he earned his PhD in 1980 specializing in the geology of the Slieve Bloom and Devilsbit Mountains. He dedicated twenty years to teaching at University College Dublin until his retirement in 2012. In 2021, he was honored as a member of the Royal Irish Academy. Married to Róisín Gilmore since 1975, they have two children, Jane and Christiaan.
