John Garo was a Solomons Islands politician born on 1952-01-29 in Buma Village. He served as the MP for West Kwaio after his election in the December 2001 general election and became Leader of the Official Opposition in May 2003. An independent MP, he supported intervention during ethnic conflicts in his country, leading to the RAMSI mission. In July 2004, he transitioned to government as Minister of State but was not re-elected in 2006 and passed away in 2007.
