John Gery, born as John Roy Octavius Dougherty on June 2, 1953, is an American poet, critic, and editor. He is known for his extensive contributions to poetry and literary criticism, having published seven poetry books, a critical analysis on nuclear annihilation in American poetry, and edited two volumes of literary criticism. Additionally, he has co-edited two anthologies of contemporary poetry and collaborated on a biography and guidebook about Ezra Pound's Venice.
