John Haven Coote was a British physiologist renowned for his contributions to the study of the autonomic control of the cardiovascular system. He held the position of Bowman Professor of Physiology at the University of Birmingham from 1983 to 2003 before becoming a Professor Emeritus. Alongside his academic role, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Leicester and consulted at the Royal Air Force Institute of Aviation Medicine. Coote's research particularly focused on exercise physiology and high-altitude effects, and he was also an enthusiastic mountain climber.
