John H. Eicher was an accomplished organic chemist, philosopher of science, historian, and author. Notably a scientist in the Manhattan Project, he contributed to the development of the atomic bomb at Columbia University. Eicher had a long teaching career at Miami University in Ohio for 37 years and co-authored the reference book 'Civil War High Commands' with his son David. Eicher was recognized as Ohio's Senior Citizen of the Year in 2016 and taught for 75 continuous years, beginning his teaching career in 1941.
