John Holmes Dingle (1908-1973) was an American physician specializing in bacteriology and immunology. He served as a professor at Case Western Reserve University and was known for his work in epidemiology and the causes of acute respiratory diseases like pneumonia and colds. Dingle received several awards, including the Lasker~DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award in 1959, and was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II and was director of the department of preventive medicine at Case Western Reserve from 1949 to 1969.
