John Jackson was a British trade unionist born on 12 January 1919 in Camberwell. He became the general secretary of the Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers, Engravers and Process Workers (SLADE) in 1972, working to adapt the union amidst technological changes. Jackson engaged in merger negotiations, ultimately merging SLADE into the National Graphical Association. He served as joint general secretary of the NGA before retiring in 1984. Post-retirement, he volunteered for the Citizens Advice Bureau and Family Court in Bedford.
