John Jansen van Galen is a Dutch journalist and writer, born on July 15, 1940, in Velp. He graduated in political and social sciences in 1965 and has worked with Algemeen Handelsblad, Haagse Post, and VPRO radio, where he created reports about Suriname. He served as the editor-in-chief of Haagse Post until its merger in 1990. From 1990 to 2015, he hosted the radio program Met het Oog op Morgen. Currently, he's a guest researcher at IMES working on decolonization, and also writes columns and essays.
