John Lyman Whitehead Jr. (1924-1992), known as 'Mr. Death', was a distinguished American military pilot who served in World War II as part of the Tuskegee Airmen, as well as in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was notable for being the first African American to graduate from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, one of the first jet pilot instructors, and the first to operate the Boeing B-47 Stratojet bomber. His contributions to aviation and military history are significant.
