John Lydon, born January 31, 1956, is a British singer and musician, also known by his stage name Johnny Rotten. He was the lead singer of the influential punk rock band Sex Pistols from 1975 to 1978. After the band's breakup, he founded the post-punk group Public Image Ltd (PiL), where he continues to perform as the lead singer. Since 2013, Lydon holds British, Irish, and American citizenship.
