He worked for various teams, including the Mutual Broadcasting System and Washington Senators, before joining the Boston Red Sox. Unfortunately, illness forced him to leave the Red Sox radio broadcast crew in June 1972, and he passed away on September 13, 1973, after undergoing open-heart surgery.
