John Martin is a Scottish violinist and singer, known for his work with the renowned Scottish folk band The Tannahill Weavers. Born in Bellshill on April 1, 1953, he is also an excellent player of the cello and viola. Before joining The Tannahills, he performed with various groups including Contraband, Ossian, and The Easy Club. Martin recorded his first piece for the BBC at the age of fourteen and remains active in the Scottish traditional music scene.
